Your officiant sets the tone for the whole wedding, so the person holding the mic at the ceremony should be someone who can carry a room. A wedding officiant is the person who leads your ceremony: the welcome, your story, the vows, the rings and the pronouncement. I’m an ordained officiant working across Southern California, and I’ve led four wedding ceremonies. After the ceremony I stay, keep the room alive through cocktail hour, and MC the reception if you want me on the mic, so one person covers your day from the ceremony to the last song.
What you get
You get a ceremony written for the two of you and delivered by someone who has held fifteen roles at other people’s weddings.
- A ceremony script built from your story, in plain language, that you both read and edit before the day
- Help with your vows if you’re writing your own, including delivery practice over video
- I run the ceremony portion of your rehearsal
- An optional reception MC: entrances, toasts, first dance, cake and the last song
The officiant who also runs the reception
Hiring one person to officiate and MC means the voice that married you is the same voice that introduces you at the reception. By dinner, your guests already know me and listen when I pick up the mic. I already know your families’ names, who gets walked in, and which uncle should not get handed the microphone.
Between the ceremony and the first entrance, I’m working cocktail hour. That’s the core Wedding Wingmen job. I keep the energy where you want it and handle problems before you hear about them. See wedding MC services for everything the reception side covers.
How it works
Working with me as your officiant runs from a free call, through writing the ceremony together, to leading it on the day.
The consultation
The consultation is a free call where you tell me about the two of you, your venue and the kind of ceremony you want. If we’re a fit, we book the date.
The prep
Prep is where your ceremony gets written. I ask each of you questions separately, then write a script you both read and edit until it sounds like you. I write non-religious ceremonies, and I’ll work in a reading, a cultural tradition or a blessing from a family member if you want one.
The day
On the wedding day, I arrive early, check the microphone with your DJ or venue and run the ceremony. If I’m also your MC, I go straight to the reception.
Where I officiate
I officiate weddings across Southern California, from Santa Barbara to San Diego. That covers Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego weddings, Santa Barbara weddings, and elopements anywhere in between, whether that’s a sunrise ceremony on the beach or ten people in a backyard.
Who this is for
This service fits couples who want a ceremony that sounds like them and a reception that doesn’t stall.
- Couples without a friend they trust to officiate, or who’d rather not put one on the spot
- Couples planning a non-religious ceremony
- Couples who want one person running the microphone all day
- Eloping couples who want a short ceremony that’s still written for them
Why me
I’ve officiated four ceremonies and stood in wedding parties eleven more times: best man twice, groomsman seven times and flower man twice. That’s the front of the room from every angle. My background is in event management, which taught me to read a crowd and fix problems quietly. Read more about me.

Can you officiate and MC the same wedding?
